The following is a brief overview of some of the most common tasks that you will encounter when working with your Opencart store.
1. Logging into admin area.
Your first step is to log in to the admin area of your Opencart store.
The web address will usually be something like:
Enter your Username & Password
From here you will see everything that makes up the back-end of your online store. (Adding products, managing your orders etc).
Categories are essentially how you sort out and categorize your products.For example if you sell T-Shirts and Shorts, you could set up categories such as T-Shirts, Plain T-Shirts, Surf Shorts, Swim Shorts, Cargo Shorts.
Anything that will help your website visitors to find your products more easily.
To edit categories:
Catalog > Categories >
Insert: Fill in the appropriate fields under General / Data / Design tabs.
You can also browse and add images to represent your categories.
Save changes (top right button).
You now have a new category to which you can assign your products.
Insert:Complete the appropriate fields under each tab (General, Data, etc). Save changes.
Under the tab ‘Links’, you can assign categories for your product.
A product can appear in many different categories.
Related Products will allow you to cross promote various products with each other.
4. Managing OrdersSales > OrdersView or Edit a specific order to view the order details such as customer information, shipping and payment information etc.
5. Setting up Shipping Options
Extensions > Shipping >(Edit or Install)
